The Quito Metro runs every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays. On weekdays it opens at 5:30 AM and closes at 11:00 PM; at weekends the service starts later. Trains run approximately every 5 to 10 minutes depending on demand.
The service runs every day of the year, including public holidays, with these hours at all Line 1 stations:
| Day | First train | Last train |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Friday | 5:30 AM | 11:00 PM |
| Saturdays | 7:00 AM | 11:00 PM |
| Sundays and holidays | 7:00 AM | 10:00 PM |
Hours may change on special dates or for maintenance. Check the official Quito Metro channels before travelling.
Frequency varies with the time of day and demand. In general you can expect a train every 5 to 10 minutes:
Commuters and students heading in. The busiest stretch of the day from Monday to Friday.
The journey home. The second peak, with crowded platforms and carriages.
Mid-morning and early afternoon: fewer people and a more comfortable ride with luggage or a bicycle.
The last train leaves each terminus (Quitumbe and El Labrador) at closing time, so if you are travelling late it pays to arrive early: at intermediate stations the final train passes somewhat sooner.
The full end-to-end journey takes 34 minutes, so a trip started shortly before closing may not be completed. For early morning flights from El Labrador, note that the metro does not run between 11:00 PM and 5:30 AM, although the airport bus operates 24 hours.
The Quito Metro does not close on any day of the year: it also runs on public holidays, following the Sunday timetable (7:00 AM to 10:00 PM).
Customer service: 1800 METRO Q (638 767), Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Quito Metro uses a flat fare: the price is the same regardless of distance travelled on Line 1.
Approximate duration of the main journeys:
