The Quito Metro uses a flat fare: you pay the same whether you travel one stop or the whole line. The standard fare is $0.45, with reduced fares of $0.22 and $0.10 for eligible passengers, and free travel for children under 5.
These are the current fares per journey on Line 1:
| Passenger type | Requirement | Fare |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (adult) | — | $0.45 |
| Senior (65+) | ID card | $0.22 |
| School student | Valid student card | $0.22 |
| Passenger with disability | CONADIS card | $0.10 |
| Child under 5 | Accompanied by an adult | Free |
Fares are set by the Municipality of Quito and may change. Always check the current price at the ticket office.
Bank cards are not accepted at the gates. Some ticket offices do accept card payment for top-ups.
Passengers aged 65 and over pay $0.22 per journey, proving their age with an ID card.
School students up to secondary level pay $0.22 with a valid student card. University students pay the standard fare.
$0.10 per journey on presentation of a CONADIS card. This is the lowest fare in the system.
The Tarjeta Ciudad is the official payment method for the Quito Metro. It has no issue fee: you request it free of charge at any station ticket office with your Ciudad account, and activate it with $1 through mobile or web banking. That dollar stays on the card as travel credit.
The card is rechargeable and does not expire while it holds credit. Reduced-fare cards are personal and non-transferable: only the accredited holder may use them.
Your metro ticket covers one journey within the metro network, with no limit on distance or number of stations.
Check current conditions at the ticket office or on the Line 1 page.
Because the fare is flat, all these journeys cost the same with the same ticket type:
| Journey | Duration | Standard fare |
|---|---|---|
| One stop | ~3 min | $0.45 |
| Quitumbe – San Francisco | ~15 min | $0.45 |
| Quitumbe – El Labrador (full line) | ~34 min | $0.45 |
The longer the journey, the better the value: the price never changes with distance.
